COVID-19 Announcements

What are we doing at the Gilded Edge in response to the COVID-19 pandemic?

Even though the Upper Valley and New Hampshire at large have not yet seen a great influx of cases like other more metropolitan areas, we here at the Gilded Edge are doing everything we can to flatten the curve to keep ourselves and our customers safe.

To begin, our services have moved to a by appointment only arrangement. This allows us to plan our days a little better as well as gives us time to sterilize high-traffic surfaces between customers. We are scheduling both for design appointments as well as finished work pickups. We are also working with our partner EverPresent to schedule drop offs and pickups.

As mentioned, we are diligently making sure we wipe down counters, the credit card machine, doorknobs, and the doorbell after each customer. If we notice that anything else has been touched, we will sanitize those surfaces as well. We’re using a doctor-approved, DIY cleaner that does not irritate even the most sensitive skin. We also have hand-sanitizer and disposable masks for customers to use if needed.

We politely request that all customers wear a mask while inside our shop. If you do not arrive with a mask, we are happy to provide you with one. Because we are also required to wear a mask while working with customers, we are keeping the entry door to the shop locked between customers. This gives us time when you arrive to get our masks on and make sure we are ready to welcome you into our shop.

Finally unless we specifically state otherwise, we ask that you try to limit what you touch within our shop. This includes our mat and frame corner samples, the ready-made frames, pens, etc. Some items in our shop, especially the corner samples, can degrade over time if cleaned too frequently with alcohol-based cleaner. If there’s something you’d like to see closer up, please feel free to ask us for assistance.

If you, or someone at home, has been feeling unwell or you think you may be experiencing COVID symptoms, please call prior to your appointment to cancel or reschedule for when you’re feeling better.

FAQs

Why do I have to wear a mask?

It has been proven by many local and global health organizations that properly wearing cloth or disposable face masks greatly diminishes the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We welcome you to do a Google search on the topic to learn more about the science behind wearing a mask as well as how to properly wear your mask and patterns for making your own at home.

How do I schedule an appointment?

We can be reached to schedule an appointment by phone at (603) 643-2884 as well as by email at gildededgestaff@gmail.com. Please understand if you send an email, the response may be somewhat delayed as we do not generally check the email many times throughout the day.

Do I need an appointment to pick up my finished work?

Yes, you do. Because we like to give you an opportunity to view your finished work before you take it home, we need to make sure that we don’t have other customers in the schedule already and have properly sanitized the shop. It also assures that even if you want us to quickly bring it out to your car that we are not busy with other customers or projects when you arrive.

Can I bring my child with me to my appointment?

We understand sometimes, and especially now, it can be impossible to find a sitter. If you absolutely have to bring your child, we request you please inform us ahead of time so we can properly prepare and they also must wear a mask. Young children cannot be expected to keep to themselves for very long, so it means more sanitizing for us afterwards.

The lights are off and the door is locked. Are you actually open?

We are keeping the entry door to the shop locked to prevent customers from entering the shop before we have had time to put on our masks. We have installed a doorbell so customers can alert us of their arrival in the event that we have stepped away from the front of the shop or are occupied with other customers. Please stay outside until we welcome you into the shop.

What is the recipe for your sanitizing solution?

We found our recipe online and has been approved by local doctors. It consists of a blend of grain alcohol (EverClear), hydrogen peroxide, water, and a few drops of essential oils for a light fragrance. For a more detailed recipe, Google search “DIY sanitizing spray.”

I’m not comfortable leaving my home yet. What options do I have to still do business with you?

We completely understand being worried about coming to see us in person. If you can mail or curbside drop off your art, we are happy to consider on a case-by-case basis arranging virtual design sessions using the video conferencing service of your choice. We can also pick out a few framing options for you (ie. “Framer’s Choice”) and email photos and quotes for each. Please give us a call or send us an email for more information.
